To-dos, like just about everything else in Basecamp, can have discussion threads.
You can discuss ideas, make decisions, share files, post updates, or anything else you might normally use email for. But they're way better than email because they're all stored together in one place. Your team will always know where the latest comments, decisions, and discussions are. No more inbox spelunking!

In fact, Basecamp discussions are best friends with email. Anyone who's part of a discussion can respond to the discussion via email and their comment will be posted right back to the project.
This means you can use Basecamp to communicate on the go with any mobile device, no matter what platform you're on. Mac, PC, mobile, iPad, whatever - as long as it can send email you can use it with Basecamp.
